Back in Fashion

Hope you had a good weekend! Yesterday was lovely here in Toronto. The sun was shining.
I finally made it to the gym yesterday! Felt good to go, I plan on going again this week.
Backpacks are in. I see them everywhere and not just on the under 18 crowd. I do like the look of backpacks and the whole practical side of them. I walk to work which I love. It is annoying lugging around a heavy purse with the day's necessities. Especially when you are running a bit late and need to power walk. So I decided to get myself a little backpack and try it out. Its great, especially when you have a long walk. I love this one from Herschel. Its not too big and the colour will go with all of my spring jackets.
Practical and fashionable. Not often you see those two words put together.
Have a good Monday!

The Strokes

Do you like this sweater? Its brand new for the season from Zara. I just bought it a couple of weeks ago. The colours and print are quite striking. It reminds me of the art-inspired prints that came off the runway from Celine. The painterly strokes of the sweater are fun and fresh for spring. I also love the zipper in the back. Its a bit wacky but always fun to have some crazy pieces in your wardrobe. Its Friday! Hope you have a great weekend!

To Keep Or Not To Keep

A few weeks ago I cleaned out my closet. There were sweaters, shirts, pants that I have not worn in quite some time so I figured I should do a purge and donate them. My rule was if I haven't worn the item of clothing in the last 6 months I was going to get rid of it. I ended up donating a full bag. There were some shirts I haven't worn in over a year. Probably a good chance I will not wear them again. There is one particular garment that I can just not part with. And that is this trench coat. I bought this shimmery number a few years ago and wore it all the time. However, it is a bit dated now. Not so much the cut (a trench coat is timeless) but the shimmery gold shade is not really in anymore. I am sure you have some clothing that you love so much you cannot part with even if it is dated. Perhaps it was something worn for a special event, given to you from a special someone or it reminds you of good times. If space allows its nice to keep a few items that you love. They may be out of fashion but for you they are timeless! Perhaps one day I will throw out this coat but for now I am keeping it safe and sound in my closet.  Hope your week is going well, have a good Wednesday.

Toronto Vintage Clothing Show

This weekend I went to the Toronto Vintage Clothing Show at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. I don't really wear vintage clothing but it was fun to browse through the racks. There was everything including clothes, hats, scarves, gloves, jewelry and shoes. I saw a black jacket by Dior made exclusively for Holt Renfrew! I especially enjoyed the mannequins styled in classic 50s and 60s dresses adorned with funky accessories. I saw the cutest little purse that reminded me of classic Chanel but was a bit out of my price range. I also saw a lovely scarf that when I eventually decided to buy someone else was buying it. That's what you get for contemplating an $8.00 purchase! It was fun to (don't hate me) browse through the fur coats. So soft and well made. A fun way to spend a Sunday afternoon.
Oh Monday you are here yet again. Always comes so quickly. I am already looking forward to next weekend!
Wishing you a good start to the week.

In Like A Lion

Happy first day of Spring! It is beginning to feel a bit warmer here in Toronto,
although we are supposed to get flurries. However, now that it is officially spring
there is a light at the end of the tunnel. The saying goes that March comes in like a lion
and goes out like a lamb. It sure came in like a lion! Here's hoping it leaves with a baa instead
of a roar. Hope you are having a good week, wishing you a good Thursday.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Thought I would wear some festive attire for today! I forgot about this shirt. It is the perfect shade of green for today.
And it goes so well with the boots, what luck.
Hope you had a good weekend. Wishing you a Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Wild for Wilfred

I think when most Canadian girls step into Aritzia they see something they like. The styles and brands are versatile while maintaining that unique Artizia flare. I am a big fan of the Canadian (!) store and regularly stop in and check out the latest pieces. One of my fave brands from Aritzia is Wilfred. I was so happy when a Wilfred store opened at the Eaton's Centre. Their flowy shirts and dresses, bold and soft colours provide casual daywear that can be dressed up for the evening. This sweater is making its second appearance on the blog this month. Some may say that is a fashion blogger faux-pas but I think its fun when bloggers style the same pieces in different outfits. The sweater was paired with a dress at the store and I thought hey, I could do that! I immediately imagined this exact outfit in my mind. Sometimes what you imagine in your mind doesn't work out in reality. But in this case I think it did. The combinations of textures, colours and cuts create a bohemian vibe but with that signature urban Wilfred feel.
If you are keeping up with Canadian weather you probably know what I am going to write next....Toronto got another snowstorm on Wednesday. Its cold, snowy and I am still wearing my winter boots and parka. Not cool Mother Nature...not cool.
Happy Friday, wishing you a great weekend!

Sporty Spice

The weather yesterday here in Toronto was amazing. As you can see here I am in my sneakers! No boots, no heavy coat, no hat. It was really nice to have the warm air and sun. This may not last for long, we are supposed to get snow again. Yikes.
I am loving this Topshop shirt I got a few weeks ago...on sale. I feel it has a sporty vibe to it which is fun. It works as a sweater or jacket plus the zipper can go in the front or back. It looks really cool zipped up from the back! I pulled out these sneakers in hopes that spring has finally arrived. Also, for inspiration to hit the gym. I got a gym membership last week (new years resolution #1 - check.) and I still as of today have not used it. I would like to tone up a bit. I used to be a gym bunny and felt really good. Maybe if I dress a bit sporty I will go?
Happy Humpday!

Women Supporting Women: Shop Local

Hello and hope you had a nice weekend! The sun was out and it was a bit warmer outside...finally! That was very uplifting. This weekend I attended the shopping event "Women Supporting Women: Shop Local" here in Toronto at the Park Hyatt Hotel. The event was in honour of International Women's Day meant to bring together and celebrate businesswomen in and around Toronto. There were some great designers showcasing their products and services. I was introduced to the handbag designer Minling Pan and the lovely boutique Labour of Love. It was really great to meet some friendly, ambitious and successful women. I always love discovering local talent. Hopefully they run the event next year! Monday is here again, hope its a good one for you.
