Garden Party

I am spending the last days of summer in summer dresses. I think my personal favourite summer dress style is the maxi dress. Its so easy to wear with a flowy, relaxed vibe. This Zara maxi has a quintessential relaxed flowy vibe. I love the colour and pattern. I practically lived in it last weekend. And where better to sport a maxi (especially this one) than a beautiful garden full of sunflowers, herbs and vegetables. Dear Mr. Sun, please shine down on me this long weekend. Love, Sarah.

Wishing you all a fabulous long weekend. Let's make the most of it!
One last party in the garden anyone?

Love Actually

Hello! Hope your week is going well. I had four days off last weekend and here is a little photo diary of what I got up to. I spent the time at my parents' place relaxing and hanging out with my sister and pets. My sis and I watched Love Actually and the Notebook on Sunday. I have seen them before but both are worth another watch. On Monday and Tuesday I bonded with my sweet little hound dog and was introduced to kittens in the barn. Growing up on a farm barn kittens are a summer staple. Not much is sweeter than watching curious little kittens playing and stumbling on hay and grass. The weather was lovely so I spent a lot of time outside in the sun. Got a bit of a sunburn. So nice to chill in the country for a few days.
Summer relaxation at its best.

Wishing you a happy day!

I had a little chuckle the other morning when I saw the term "Augtober" used to describe the current weather here in Ontario on The Weather Network. The weather has certainly cooled down this past week. So much that last weekend I wore a jacket to work - a jacket! Didn't really want to bring one of those out for at least another two weeks. But I guess it is nearing the end of August which means more transitional pieces need to be added to one's outfit.

Speaking of transitional pieces...I bought this kimono jacket a few weeks ago from Urban Outfitters. The print caught my eye right away. I love how it falls off the shoulders in a slouchy relaxed way. Pair it with some boots over a summer item and I am good for Augtober...maybe add some tights when the sun goes down.

So excited it's Friday. I have the next four days off which I will be spending with good company, good food and beautiful scenery. Wishing you a great weekend. TGIF !

Amsterdam Bound

Quick post today, just wanted to let you know that I decided on my travel destination - Amsterdam! Looking forward to soaking up Dutch culture, art, fashion and history. So excited to sit at a cafe with a coffee while taking in the street style and canals.
I would be happy to know of any recommendations for shopping, eating and coffee from anyone who has been to Amsterdam. Flight and hotel are booked. Can't wait!

Hope your week is going well. Happy Thursday!

My Daughters' Garden

Thought I would do a photo profile of my Mom's store, My Daughters' Garden. I mentioned last week on the blog that it is great to discover Canadian style and design so here is some outdoor design handmade in Canada! Everything is handcrafted by my mom and dad on their farm. They make potting tables, benches, garden signs as well as other seasonal pieces for the home and garden. Many of the pieces are made from century old barnboard. The unique designs make for a lovely addition to any garden, illustrated here in my mother's beautiful gardens. I love taking pictures of my parents' property, especially in the summer when all the plants and flowers are in bloom. My mom does a fantastic job of styling her handcrafted works into her lovely garden.

Million Miles Away

London....check. New York....check. Paris....check. Milan....not yet but perhaps one day! I have a couple of weeks off in the fall and I have been thinking about where to go for a vacation. There are so many great places to visit that it's hard to decide where to go. I am having a lot of fun reading up on different cities, hotel and flight deals and checking out Google street views. I will definitely go somewhere in Europe. The cities, culture, history and art are so diverse and amazing all over Europe that how does one decide? I have considered Dublin, Berlin, Stockholm and Barcelona. However, I am steering toward Amsterdam. It looks like a very cool city. I would love to see where the magic of the Dutch art geniuses happened (shout out to Rembrandt, Vermeer and Van Gogh). I will let you know my final decision once I book my flight. It will probably be in the next few days!

Hope you had a good weekend. Wishing you a good start to the week.
